How many times has the destiny of men, women, nations, and even civilizations depended on dogs! Some of them have left their paw-prints on the course of human history. Today, we wish you a Happy Women’s Day and remember the brave and beautiful she-woofs who have created a difference in the world in small, significant and personal ways.

Each of these female floofs inspires us.

  1. Laika

    Laika was a Soviet space dog. This lady became one of the first-ever animals in space and the first animal to orbit the Earth! Laika, a sweet streetie from Moscow, was selected to be the occupant of the Soviet spacecraft Sputnik 2, which was launched into low orbit on 3 November 1957.

  2. Buddy

    Buddy, a female German Shepherd, became the first guide dog for the visually challenged. Along with trainer Dorothy Eustis, Buddy became the first female dog to help visually impaired individuals navigate the streets. Buddy was instrumental in opening the first Guide Dog School, The Seeing Eye, where thousands of visually impaired individuals trained with the help of guide dogs.

    Ruby, a female Belgian shepherd has been recognized as “cop of the month” for her commendable services to the police force as an expert sniffer dog in Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh, about 230 km east of Raipur.
